Facebook Friend Request Violates Domestic Violence Injunction


A Florida man was arrested and jailed for sending his wife a friend request on Facebook, in violation of a domestic protection order.

According to the Smoking Gun, the man admitted to contacting his estranged wife via facebook, against the Domestic violence injunction that was issued against him. He also admitted to changing a password on her email account.

Violating a domestic violence injunction or an  order of protection in Florida is a 1st degree misdemeanor offense, with a maximum penalty of up to 1 year in jail, for a first offense.
